There are millions of people in our world who have never seen snow and never will. They will never catch a crisp flake on their waiting tongue or outstretched mitten. They will never feel the numbingly cold wetness seep through their sock during a winter’s walk. They will never have to shovel out their car. They will never wake to a quiet blanket of brightness.
Sure, these people may have read about snow. Or may have even studied snow in a science class. But while studying a subject gives a degree of knowledge about the topic, their knowledge will never blossom into wisdom since they lack experience.
One of the areas of life that Aikido nurtures is chi-iku. That is, Aikido increases our knowledge and wisdom through study and experience.
Study alone cannot give wisdom.
And experience alone cannot give knowledge.
There must be both study and experience in order to give both knowledge and wisdom.
In Aikido, the sensei teaches out of their own study and experience which inspires others to study more deeply.
We invite you to nurture your knowledge and understanding through Aikido classes. Participating in our classes regularly will nurture chi-iku.
